San Diego Renaissance Faire 2004
Our fourth year at the San Diego Renaissance Faire saw the debut
of our new Regent Pavilion, which was donated by one of our fine hounds, Captain
Jack Sparrow. This new, smaller pavilion was used to expand our encampment,
giving us more room to display our lazy Greyhounds, and as storage for our mundane
items. We were also joined by two San Diego Greyhound owners, Alexandra and
Roger Ford with their hounds Ghost and Duncan (Fox's son). The Fords had such
a good time they've become members of Greyhounds of Fairhaven and will be joining
us in Las Vegas and other upcoming faires. Huzzah!
It seems we say this every year, but this was our most successful
year at this event so far. We gave out nearly all of the brochures we'd printed,
took in more donations than previous years, and again had patrons stop by to
tell us they'd adopted a hound or two due to seeing us in prior years. On Saturday
morning, several of us got up really early so we could help advertise
the faire on the local television stations. It turned out to be well worth it,
as we were in several of the TV spots with a local weatherman and got to show
Fox's keenness to hunt, as well as his speed, on live TV! We even had one patron
stop by later in the day to tell us she'd come to the faire just because she'd
seen Fox on TV.
