Las Vegas Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival 2002
Early in 2002, we decided we wanted to add another Renaissance
Faire to our yearly insanity, so we started looking around for other Faires
that would fit into our schedule. We found the Las Vegas Age of Chivalry Renaissance
Festival, and decided to apply. We were accepted as participants for that year's
Festival.
The Festival was incredible! Three days (Friday through Sunday),
with the longest hours we've ever seen: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday (which
was also their Student Day in the morning and early afternoon), and 10 a.m.
to midnight on Saturday! We doubted it would be worth staying such long hours,
but were we ever wrong. There was hardly any time when our encampment wasn't
filled with people. The fact that we were right next to one of the Festival
entrances probably didn't hurt.
We came close to running out of literature late Saturday morning,
and had to send Matt out to the nearest OfficeMax to make more copies. I'm not
sure the Las Vegas greyhound adoption groups knew what hit them after that weekend!
When we got home from Las Vegas, there was already an email from one of the
local adoption groups thanking us for the publicity and informing us they'd
already received an adoption application.
Despite the long hours, the hounds were real champs. They did
a wonderful job of entertaining all our visitors, and lying around and getting
petted. None of them got cranky, and only two needed to take short breaks on
occasion, which they did by "hiding" under the table.
While at the Las Vegas Festival, we ran into some old friends
from both the Arizona and San Diego Faires, and we received an invitation to
participate in yet another Faire. Unfortunately, our schedule doesn't allow
us to be there, but it's nice to be wanted. :-)
Ebony celebrated her 14th birthday at the Festival. Happy
birthday to the little girl who started it all! May you see many more Faires.

too busy talking with patrons to take many pictures.)
